Both are serious cloud systems and both are far better than outgrown accounting software. The right choice depends on what your business actually needs to run. We work on both, so this is not a sales pitch for one.
Where Sage Intacct is strong
Sage Intacct is built around finance. Its general ledger, dimensions, multi-entity consolidation, and financial reporting are excellent. Finance teams like it because it is clean and fast for accounting work. It integrates with other systems for inventory, ecommerce, and operations rather than doing all of that itself.
Where NetSuite is strong
NetSuite is a full ERP. Finance, inventory, order management, purchasing, fulfillment, and CRM are in one system with one database. For a product business that sells across channels and holds stock, that matters: an order placed on your store, the stock it uses, the invoice, and the shipment all live in one place.
The practical difference for a product business
If your complexity is mostly in finance — many entities, consolidations, complex revenue recognition — and your operations are handled well elsewhere, Sage Intacct plus good integrations can be the right fit.
If your complexity is in operations — inventory across locations, multi-channel orders, fulfillment, returns — NetSuite’s single-system approach usually removes more work and more errors.
Questions to ask before you choose
- Where does most of our manual work happen today: finance or operations?
- How many systems would we still need alongside the ERP?
- Will we sell on more channels or from more locations in the next few years?
- Who will run the system day to day, and what are they comfortable with?
How we help
We run both platforms. If you are not sure which fits, we will map your processes and tell you which one removes the most work. If you have already chosen, we implement it.
